Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Who is Pacific Telco?
Pacific Telco is a Voice-Over IP service provider  for small and mid-size businesses nationwide. Pacific Telco helps business owners maximize their technology investment and minimize technology hassles keeping their telephony environment reliable, cost effective and flexible.

Q: How does Pacific Telco work?
Pacific Telco leverages your existing broadband connection by transmitting voice packets over the internet.  Voice packets are digital, rather than traditional analogue phone lines, which reduce static and provide high quality calling.

Q: Is there an Pacific Telco location near me?
Pacific Telco is headquartered in downtown Santa Barbara. If there is not presently a Pacific Telco office in your city or town, please check back soon as we are opening new offices this year.

Q: Do you sell hardware and software?

Pacific Telco provides IP phones from Polycom, Cisco, and Linksys.  We sell phone/fax adapters from Linksys.  Pacific Telco also provides a unique router by Edgewater Networks which provides all the traditional functionality of a standard router, but with specific enhancements for VoIP such as bandwidth throttling and QOS.

For our customers who can't afford 5 seconds of downtime, Pacific Telco also offers a router clustering device from Fat Pipe Technologies which manages multiple internet feeds and keeps both your internet and phones up and running when your high speed internet provider goes down.

Q: What computing platforms do you support?
Our user portals work with any platform that can get online.  However, some of our specialty products, such as the web user console, requires the Windows Operating System.

We have been asked if a virus could affect your phones, since they run off the internet.  Even if your network crashes, as long as your modem is up and running, VoIP works just fine.  The only time a virus could affect your phone call is when using one of our soft phones, which is software running on your computer that allows you to make calls without physically having a phone.

Q: Do you support the Mac platform?

Yes.  You can manage your phone system from your Mac and of course, retrieve voicemail from your email if you prefer.

Q: How much can I expect to pay for your services?

So far, it's been safe to say that you can look at your current phone bill and take 40% off.  Whether you've got three phones or 300, I can safely say we'll come close to cutting your bill in half.

Q: Do you provide programming services?
Our platform is unique in that it is html based, so you can customize it as much as you like.  Of course, Pacific Telco is always there to lend a hand.  We're happy to build out your calling plan/phone system to spec.

Q: What is your definition of small/mid-size business? Is my business too small? Is my business too large?

Pacific Telco focuses all businesses.  Those who see the most savings are large business that spend thousands on pbx boxes and have multiple locations.  These scenarios are ideal for VoIP.

Our smaller clients have found ways to leverage our technology in new and exciting ways that have always been cost prohibitive with traditional phone systems.  Fear not, big or small your going to save buckets of cash and bring your company to a whole new level in the blink of an eye.
